Dictionary.com buying Lingt!

After months of inactivity (no new features added, no reply on the feedback board) Lingt finally announced tonight it will close its service in Feb 2011 as it has just been acquired by dictionary.com

Lingt is a free online flashcard system to learn Chinese. It is very weldone and pretty addictive (so great for study!). I never succeed making the voice recognition system works, but even without this feature, I loved Lingt: its design, easy to use, very intuitive, game-like levels of vocabulary that you can unlock if you have sufficient stats…. I am sad I wont be able to use it anymore for my Chinese study (even though I have to admit I paused my Chinese study for a while now…but still thinking to go back to them someday!).

But big congrat to Chris Varenhorst, founder of Lingt for this exit! Looking forward to his new venture. Hope it will still help me study languages!

By then I can perfect my English with dictionary.com flashcard, a clear improved version of Lingt system. I am just a bit disappointed Lingt didnt got acquired by another cool online Chinese learnign tool such as nciku.com or Chinesepod
